Carnival is about war and the after party. I was inspired after watching a war veteran compete on a season of Dancing With the Stars. His resilience was inspiring, but there was a certain forced cheer which negated the tragedy, a veneer of celebration like an old school carnival, just one of the hard knocks brought to entertain in spite of any afflictions.
